NLEX, even without breaking a sweat, achieved a big goal and the Road Warriors can thank their sister the Meralco Bolts.

Meralco blew a big 22-point lead but found their second wind in time to carve out a thrilling 99-93 victory over hard-fighting KIA on Wednesday night and eliminate the Sorento from playoff contention in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

After a roaring start that gave them a lead of 22 points at 63-41 early in the third canto, the Bolts suddenly went cold in the face of the Sorento’s strong fightback and even stood on the brink of a monumental collapse when they fell behind by three midway through the payoff canto.

Good thing for the Bolts, veterans Jared Dillinger, Mark Macapagal and Cliff Hodge rose to the occasion as they took turns in their decisive push, fueling a 14-3 run in a critical four-minute stretch to send the Sorento packing along with fellow newcomer Blackwater Elite.

Dillinger led all scorers with 25 points, including 13 in their ferocious start, while the do-it-all Hodge filled up the void left by injured Reynel Hugnatan with a double-double outing of 17 markers and 10 rebounds as Meralco snapped a two-game losing skid.

More importantly, the Bolts improved their record to an even 5-5 card in a tie with idle GlobalPort Batang Pier in the middle pack while giving KIA the boot after the Sorento dropped their ninth straight game after its opening-day victory against Blackwater.

Benefiting the most from Meralco’s victory is NLEX, which completed the 10-team playoff cast while turning its final eliminations assignment against Kia on Dec. 7 into a no-bearing affair.

Although they failed to keep their hopes alive, the Sorento have nothing to be ashamed of, especially in giving the Bolts one big scare.

With playing coach Manny Pacquiao starting for KIA, Meralco uncorked a 15-4 start and even stretched its lead to 34-19 after the first 12 minutes, with Dillinger leading the way.

But the Sorento finally showed some signs of life in the second canto and had it on full display in third behind the exploits of Reil Cervantes, Eloy Poligrates and Hyram Bagatsing, who sparked a 28-8 counterattack that trimmed what once a 22-point deficit to just one, keeping them in the thick of the fight.

KIA continued its roll in the fourth as LA Revilla scored five straight points and Poligrates made another jumper for an 81-78 lead.

However, Meralco regained its bearings defensively and rediscovered its offensive groove as well by unloading 14 of the next 16 points, capped by Macapagal’s second triple for a 92-83 cushion with less than five minutes left.

But the Sorento refused to easily fold as they uncorked three straight triples, the last off Jopher Custodio at the top of the key, that enabled them to pull within 93-96 with 67 seconds remaining.

The Bolts, however, didn’t lose composure and closed it out.
In his first game since KIA's opening-day win over Blackwater, Pacquiao logged just over six minutes, all in the first quarter, and went scoreless. He grabbed two rebounds but committed one foul and one turnover. He took and missed two three-point attempts, with the second one rimming out.

The Main Man: Jared Dillinger delivered the goods anew with a game-best 25 points, even starring in the Bolts’ electrifying start.

Honorable Mentions: Also making their presence felt for Meralco were veterans Mark Macapagal and Cliff Hodge, who made necessary buckets in the stretch.

Game Turning Point: Staring at a 78-81 deficit, the Bolts turned up the heat on the defensive end then regained their offensive flow by uncorking a telling 14-2 run for an eight-point lead with five minutes left.

Stat of the Game: Even without the presence of hard-banging Reynel Hugnatan, the Bolts still lorded it over in the lane by scoring 14 more points over the Sorento in the shaded lane.

He Said It:
Meralco coach Norman Black: When they took lead in fourth, there's a possibility we might lose the game. It’s been a roller coaster ride so I’ll take the win. I'm happy with the win. Reynel Hugnatan will be back next game. In the last five minutes, I told players we have two options: Let this go or let’s keep our composure and regain control of the game.

Next Games:
Meralco versus GlobalPort on Dec. 9 at the Astrodome
Kia against NLEX on Dec. 7 at the Araneta Coliseum

The scores:
Meralco 99 – Dillinger 25, Hodge 17, Anthony 14, Wilson 11, David 10, Macapagal 8, Morrison 4, Cortez 3, Ferriols 3, Ildefonso 2, Sena 2, Buenafe 0, Guevarra 0.

Kia 93 – Cervantes 18, Poligrates 11, Revilla 10, Bagatsing 10, Thiele 9, Alvarez 8, Pascual 8, Dehesa 7, Custodio 6, Webb 4, Burtscher 3, Pacquiao 0, Buensuceso 0.

Quarterscores: 34-19; 60-39; 73-72; 99-93.

For years, two French couples had doubts over whether their daughters were really theirs and a DNA test eventually confirmed their worst fears, revealing the girls were switched at birth.
On Tuesday, the families of the girls now aged 20 were in court in the southeastern city of Grasse, suing doctors and the clinic involved in the case for more than 12 million euros ($15 million) in damages.
The story began in July 1994, when Sophie Serrano gave birth to little Manon at a clinic in the French Riviera resort of Cannes, near Grasse.
The baby suffered from jaundice and doctors put her in an incubator equipped with lights to treat the problem along with another affected newborn girl.
An auxiliary nurse unwittingly switched them, and while both mothers immediately expressed doubt about the babies, pointing to their different hair lengths, they were sent home anyway.
Ten years later, troubled by the fact his daughter bore no resemblance to him with her darker skin, Manon's father did a paternity test that revealed he was not her biological parent.
Sophie Serrano then discovered she was not Manon's mother either, prompting a probe to try and find the other family who had been handed their biological daughter.
The investigation revealed that at the time of the births in 1994, three newborns suffered from jaundice -- the two girls and a boy -- and the clinic only had two incubators with the special lights.
The girls were therefore put together in one incubator, according to the lawyer of one of the obstetricians being sued.
Another obstetrician, two paediatricians, the clinic and an auxiliary nurse are also being sued.
The two sets of parents eventually met their biological daughters for the first time when they were both 10 years old, but did not ask that they be switched back.
Ten years later, both families are suing for a total of more than 12 million euros.
The other family involved in the case also attended Tuesday's closed-doors court hearing but opted to remain anonymous.
Man travels across Japan to spell out his marriage proposal via GPS

What Japanese Yasushi Takahashi did has raised the bar for the statement marriage proposal.

By Alyssa Bereznak | Yahoo – Wed, Dec 3, 2014

Talk about a drawn-out engagement.

Japanese man Yasushi Takahashi traveled through his home country, tracking his path via GPS, so he could write out a proposal — complete with an arrow-struck heart — to his girlfriend.

She, of course, said yes.

Though he quit his job to make the trip in 2008, his home movie of it recently surfaced online. The feat is captured in a seven-minute slideshow of various landmarks that Takahashi visited during his travels (above). Not only is the film’s beginning shot like some sort of classic French new wave film, but his captions—often written in charmingly broken English—are strangely poetic and peppered with emoticons.

For instance, he begins with the vague message: “This is not a ‘record,’ but a ‘document’ that a life with ambition run through a moment,” and then explains “my heart is … adventure to unknown, mass of passion, and love for traveling.” Other gems include: “The road leads endlessly toward the horizon,” “It was snowing in spite of October,” and “I had fresh sea urchin … so good (^ ^).”

This is not the first outlandish, tech-enabled marriage proposal to grace the Internet. And Takahashi is not the first person to use GPS to draw something clever. But it’s raised the bar for the statement proposal. In fact, you should definitely passive-aggressively bring this up when your boyfriend proposes. Something along the lines of “Yes, the dinner at Chez Panisse was wonderful, and I loved the moonlight walk, but, you know, Brian, some boyfriends travel the length of Japan to express their love for a woman.”

(UPDATED: 1:30 p.m.) -- Weather Bureau PAGASA advises the public to brace for typhoon 'Hagupit' which continues to barrel its way towards Visayas.
Citing forecast models, PAGASA says, the typhoon will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 8 a.m. on Thursday (Dec. 4) and will be called 'Ruby'.
The typhoon is currently bearing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness of 170 kph and is forecast to move west northwest at 30 kph.
PAGASA is looking at several scenarios, including the possibility it could re-curve towards the north and bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Bicol region and the Visayas.
FIRST SCENARIO
First, Hagupit can make landfall in Visayas on Saturday afternoon or evening and bring rains to Western Visayas, Mindoro and Palawan as it makes its way to the Sulu Sea.
If Hagupit will make landfall, it is projected to bring moderate to intense rains (5 to 20 millimeters per hour) and storm surges.
Rainfall models show it could bring moderate to heavy rainfall over Southern Luzon, Palawan and much of the central islands from December 7 to 8 and possible flash floods and landslides and 3 to 4 meter storm surges.
SECOND SCENARIO
The other possible scenario is for Hagupit to skirt the Philippine landmass due to the weakening of the high pressure area (HPA) in the northern hemisphere. This will force Hagupit to move towards southern Japan.

As a precautionary measure, PAGASA warns those in the said areas against possible flashfloods and landslides while those in the coastal areas are alerted against rough to very rough seas.

Metro Manila is also expected to experience light rains, as well as the rest of Luzon, also because of the presence of the northeast monsoon over Northern and Central Luzon.

PAGASA adds, by tomorrow, they will see a clearer picture of the forecast track of Typhoon Hagupit, once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Stay tuned to ANC for updates on that.

Nick Diaz, set to fight ex-UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in January, said he won’t try and attack the leg Silva broke late last year.

“When someone tells you a fighter’s injured and they tell you to go after an injury, it really throws you off,” Diaz said, according to MMAFighting.com.

“It would be sad to lose a fight on account of, you’re trying to concentrate on capitalizing on someone’s weakness when it comes to injury and something like that, [rather than fighting] your fight without worrying about something like that.”

Diaz will face Silva during UFC 183 in Las Vegas on Jan. 31.

“Someone came up to me and told me that [his opponent's] knee was hurt,” Diaz recalled, “and he said to me, attack his knee, I’m like, ‘Yeah right, I’m not going out to attack this guy’s knee.’ It just doesn’t … it’s not realistic to go after his injury, unless they got a cut the same week, then it’s like, yeah, hit him in the eye, because the [expletive] is going to re-open and now you wouldn’t fight on the cut. Maybe on a cut you want to take advantage of it, that makes sense.”

A few days ago, Diaz also said his DUI arrest was a “big misunderstanding.”

“Where I live, everybody knows how it is in Lodi,” Diaz told Fox Sports.

“You can’t even drive through town at the wrong hours without getting stopped. I was just having a real bad night. I wasn’t really getting along with the officer very well,” he added. “There’s a lot to that story that people don’t understand. I haven’t really been having a lot to say about it. It’s not a big deal to me. It is a big deal, of course, but there’s a lot to the story that people don’t understand.”

The mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will take place before the summer of 2015, said ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith.

Following his victory over Chris Algeri earlier this month, Pacquiao publicly called out Pacquiao for a fight.

Smith claimed Mayweather is not afraid of fighting Pacquiao, but he said there were other reasons why the two have never met each other in the ring.

“I had somebody that’s connected to Floyd Mayweather’s people tell me that Floyd offered Bob Arum ten million dollars to essentially step out of the way,” he said, via FightSaga.

Arum, the longtime boxing promoter, represents Pacquiao. His camp is said to be at odds with Pacquiao’s camp.

Smith said, “So clearly this is about Arum and not about Manny Pacquiao.”

“If Floyd was scared, he wouldn’t be doing such things. I don’t believe that he’s scared by any stretch of the imagination. But I do believe the pressure is mounting for Mayweather,” Smith continued.

He added: “It’s gotten to the point where his unblemished, undefeated, sure fire, Hall of Fame credentials mean absolutely nothing to us at this moment in time. We want Floyd Mayweather against Manny Pacquiao.”

“Anytime you hear someone talk about Floyd Mayweather now, they keep talking about the fight, the fight, the fight. What they keep reminding him in my opinion, is what boxing is really all about. Ali would have never been Ali if he had never fought Frazier, or Norton, or Foreman. There are losses in all of the greats’ resumes. But there’s something to be said about stepping in the ring and facing the fighters that people want to see you up against.”

Smith then predicted a 2015 bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao, saying that Mayweather will be victorious should the two fight.

“I believe Floyd Mayweather will sign to fight Manny Pacquiao, and I believe it will happen before June of 2015, and I believe Floyd Mayweather will take him out,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Mayweather on Wednesday took shots at Pacquiao on Instagram.

He posted Pacquiao’s last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, showing him getting knocked down several times.

In the background, Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” can be heard playing.

He also described Pacquiao as “desperate” and “broke,” and in need of a fight.

Pacquiao on Friday responded to the shot.  “He should fight me now, since I can be ‘easily’ put to sleep!” Pacquiao sarcastically said in Filipino. “He posted a video of me when I lost to Marquez, so this means he thinks I’m easy to knock out. So come on, let’s fight!”

Miley Cyrus is allegedly carrying new boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger's child. A source claimed the pop star discovered she was pregnant when she had missed her period and when a pregnancy test result came out positive.

According to Inquisitr, a source told Life & Style magazine that the 22-year-old singer is going to be a mom. Miley Cyrus has remained mum about her pregnancy, but she is supposedly nearly one month pregnant. Miley reportedly mentioned late in October that "her period was late" so she took two pregnancy tests."
"One came back negative -- and the other came back positive. Friends are convinced she's in the early stages of pregnancy," the source said.
The singer allegedly even showed excitement over her supposed pregnancy. According to the source, Miley admitted that she and Patrick Schwarzenegger "would make the cutest kids." There are no regrets since she "loves Patrick and loves the idea of having a Kennedy baby," the source added.
Miley and Patrick has recently just started dating. According to Hollywood Life, Miley and Patrick Schwarzenegger first hooked up in 2011. Since then the model has reportedly already had his eyes set on the pop star. Patrick has supposedly been calling Miley his "dream girl." According to Hollywood Life, Miley has also focused her attention on the 21-year-old. A source claimed "it's all about Patrick now" since she has already gotten over her ex.
Likewise, the couple has been spotted showing a lot of PDA lately. According to Life & Style the pair was recently at a friend's birthday party. While there Miley, Patrick and another friend were spotted getting inside a photo booth. From one photo the site shared all three could be seen sticking their tongues out for the camera. However, another photo shows Miley with her mouth open while Patrick Schwarzenegger sticks his tongue out to lick her face.
As for the pregnancy rumours, Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger have yet to comment on the speculations. However, this isn't the first time the singer has been reported to be pregnant. According to Mail Online, back in April of this year Miley Cyrus was also reported to have gotten pregnant from a one-night stand. But her rep denied the accusations and told the site that "there's no truth" to the story.
