A 34-year-old woman named Lea Canete and her three-year-old daughter were found dead inside a pension house in Bacolod City on Friday.
Canete's body was found hanging in the toilet area. A nylon rope was used to hang her. A towel covered her mouth.
Her daughter, Lean, had slashes on both wrists.
According to the Women's and Children's Protection Desk, the victims checked in Thursday night. However, at around noon on Friday they failed to check out. This prompted the roomboy to check them.
Police are now conducting follow-up investigation to determine if there was foul play in the incident.
Authorities will also check if the pension house has a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the area to determine who the victims were with before they were killed.
